Pair of Blackhawks Grapplers Earn Titles At Cobra Challenge 2011

In one of the most competitive middle school wrestling tournaments in Central Virginia, two Floyd T. Binns Middle School Blackhawks wrestlers earned their first championship of the new season at the third annual Cobra Challenge of 2011. Eighth graders Yarhoski Aldiva, 98# Class, and Kaleb Weaver, 156# Class, both defeated a trio of tough combatants to seize their first title this fall.

Meanwhile, Bryce Henry, 75# Class (1-2), and Bryce Harty, 145# Class (2-2), each placed third in their respective divisions. Harty won both of his victories by pinfall. Five more Blackhawks, Travis Gorham, Zachary Miller, T.D. Young, Kaden Woodward and Tyler Keen also entered the Cobra Challenge but did not place. And thank you Bret Shurina for your help and effort at the tables during the tournament.

FTB's coaches are proud of all nine Blackhawks who competed this Saturday. It was a perfect early season setting, with fierce competition for our student-athletes to display their skills, speed, strength and heart. But we have plenty of hard work ahead of us in order to place more of FTB's wrestlers atop the podium.
